Delighting in the Lord or denying Him
Intro:
In the midst of a sin-saturated world, temptation abounds. That’s why walking with Jesus is called walking the narrow path. Let’s look at what that means today.
Opening Prayer:
As I come to you this morning Lord, I realise how unworthy I am. After reflecting upon your magnificence yesterday, in your presence, I realise my sinfulness and need for you. Forgive me Lord. Help me experience your grace today.
Bible verse –
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.”
Psalms 1:1-6 NIV
Reflection –
Can’t you just see the contrast between those who delight in the Lord and those who dwell with the wicked?
Such a different outcome in life.
It may begin with a small step away from God. Then another, then another…until you look around and realise you are constantly where you don’t want to be…in the company of sinners, friends with mockers of the Lord…instead of friends with those who love God and his ways.
If that’s you today. Don’t give up. Turn around now. Turn back to the loving Father now. Experience his embrace and forgiveness. Everything changes in his presence.
Delighting in the Lord and experiencing the Father’s embrace makes all the difference doesn’t it? Nothing else substitutes the Heavenly Father’s love and experiencing the enfolding of His grace.
Coming back to God requires conviction, that’s the Holy Spirit’s work, and courage, that’s our job. Delighting in the Lord is worth it! How might you respond today?
Prayer –
Thank you God even when I stray. And even if I’m far from you. You’re just a prayer away. You’re right beside me today, even if I don’t feel it, I know you are there.
You promise Lord that you will never leave me nor forsake me. What a grace filled God you are. Thank you for forgiving me even when I don’t feel it. You love and forgive me. Thank you Lord.
Amen.
