A Lamp for my Path
Intro:
How refreshing it is to read God’s word each day, isn’t it? It’s truly life-giving! Do you agree?
Opening Prayer:
Jesus, I love you. Thank you for loving me so much that you came from heaven to earth laying your life down for me. Thank you Jesus for taking my sins upon the Cross. I’m forgiven and free. Thank you Jesus.
Bible verse –
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”
Psalms 119:105 NLT
Reflection –
When we choose to open God’s word and listen to him, he speaks so clearly to us doesn’t he? Perhaps you haven’t opened God’s word for your own refreshing for a while. Today’s a good day to do that.
Truly God’s word is a guide for our lives. I don’t like to see it as a rule book; that seems legalistic. More as a map book; that seems alive. It guides my feet how to walk.
God’s word meets me every time I read it. Sometimes it seems more alive. Other times dry and dusty. But I don’t give up.
Just like daily I have water and most days food (unless I’m fasting), so daily, or most days I feed my soul on God’s word.
Whether you’re richly renewing your soul through God’s word with it being a light for your path showing you where and how to step or whether you’ve not read it for a while, today’s a good day to read the Bible.
I find if I need to see it come alive again, I turn to Psalms or Proverbs sometimes reading 1 and meditating deeply upon it. Sometimes reading many like a banquet.
Fall in love with God through reading the Bible again today.
Prayer –
Thank you God for your amazing Word. It comes alive to me again today. Truly let me hide your word in my heart that I may not sin against you. And let it be a lamp to guide my feet and a light to shine on my path.
