Devotional
Carried
Intro:
As Pastors and leaders, it can get exhausting serving the Lord and caring for His people, can’t it? Come into His rest today.
Opening Prayer:
Thank you Jesus that I can draw near to you and you promise to draw near to me. Thank you that when I’m exhausted or even just tired, you give me rest, Lord. Help me today, right now, to cast aside any burden that I’m carrying, giving it to you. Oh Lord. Thank you for taking that weight and burden from me and giving me rest. Thank you for carrying me.
Amen
Bible Verse:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Mathew 11:28-30 NIV
Reflection:
What beautiful life giving verses. When applied, how freeing and how renewing. Yet sometimes it’s hard to live, isn’t it. Sometimes it’s hard not to carry the burdens ourselves. It’s hard to let go. Why? Because it’s hard to trust. To not believe that we need to be in control.
Yet when we lay the burden at His feet and rest in His arms taking His yoke upon us, how releasing, how renewing and how freeing.
What do you need to release today? How do you need to trust Him, again? Where do you need to remember, that the God who created the universe, loves you and can carry that burden that you are carrying. Give it to Him today. He’s got it all under control.
Prayer:
Thank you Lord that I can trust in you. I give every burden, every weight and distraction to you. No longer will I carry this myself. Now I choose to trust in you. Now I take your yoke upon me Lord and I truly do find it is easy and light. Thank you Jesus. I love you so much. Thank you for first loving me!
Amen.
