Devotional
Hope in the Lord – He never disappoints!

Intro:
“Hope”, real Biblical hope – a confident expectation of a positive future, as one of my Bible college lecturers defined it – how refreshing and strengthening this is.
Starting Prayer:
I begin today afresh with you Jesus. Thank you that your mercies are new every morning Lord. And that great is your faithfulness. And amazing is your grace.
Your promises and your presence encourage me today as I draw near to you Lord. Thank you Jesus that I have confidence you’re with me today.
Amen
Bible verse –
“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”
Psalms 34:8 NLT
Reflection –
What a beautiful, encouraging verse filled with hope.
Can you almost ‘taste’ the nearness of the Holy Spirit to you? Our senses come alive when He is present with us in a special way don’t they.
He’s with you now wherever you are and in whatever situation. He breathes a fresh breath of his hope and strength upon you. He pours refreshing into your heart.
Just as He does in mine.
When I face struggles and I come back to verses like this, my whole perspective changes.
The verse says “Oh the joys of those who take refuge in him”. Doesn’t that imply there are challenges all around?
They were for David when he wrote this Psalm. I never faced an evil conniving king who’s killed or arranged the murder of 70 of his brothers and sisters so that he can rule the kingdom. But this is who David faced in Abimelech when he wrote this Psalm.
So, whatever you’re facing today, take refuge in the Lord. Let his joy truly be your strength. And be encouraged. You’re doing the Lord’s work. You’re serving him as you’re serving his people.
Have hope in Jesus. Let HIs hope arise and bring you trust building your faith that He will never leave you.
Prayer –
Thank you Lord that no matter what my situation, there is always hope. Hope in you Jesus is never disappointed. Hope in you Jesus is always answered.
I put my trust in you Lord. I take refuge in you and find joy and hope overflowing Lord.
Thank you loving God for strength for another day.
Amen
