In Heaven

Pausing to listen to the Lord and seeing from His perspective begins to give us a heavenly view. Imagine for a moment you are in Heaven. What do you see? What about when you look down on yourself on earth? How does a heavenly perspective change how you see your life right now? (You may like to watch a popular movie called: “Heaven is for Real”. It certainly inspired me.)

Opening Prayer:

Thank you Lord that when we look at life from your heavenly perspective, everything changes. Help us to see our life how you see it. Help us to see ourselves and our joys and challenges through your eyes, Lord.

Reflection:

Where do you need to have a fresh heavenly perspective right now? We often consider challenges in our devotions. What about triumphs and victories? Maybe you’ve seen someone come to faith in Jesus or a few people baptised. Or maybe lots of people are now coming to your church. Or people are telling you what an amazing preacher you are. Or what an incredibly loving Pastor.

All these encouragements are so wonderful aren’t they. When they are seen from a heavenly perspective knowing that we can only do what we do if the Lord enables us. Otherwise we don’t even have breath or strength without Him. We can’t do anything of eternal value without Him. It’s so easy to get caught up in other’s praise and encouragement. Or to use false modesty saying: “Oh yes, it’s only the Lord that can help me to do that”…But all along think it is us ourselves that has done that amazing thing.

A heavenly perspective changes all that. Our Father rules in the heavens. It is He who changes our lives, our world and draws people’s hearts to Himself…through us and others.

It is He who gives us His gifts to preach, prophesy and pray. It is He who gives us gifts to teach, counsel and serve others. We can only do these things effectively from a heavenly perspective.

And remember, He rules and reigns in Heaven and on earth His kingdom comes. So, if you have need today, you can reach out to the Ruler of the Heavens and Earth, the Lord God Almighty.

Now that changes our perspective, hey!

Prayer:

You are an Almighty God who rules in the heavens and earth. We give you praise, honour and glory, Lord. Thank you when we look at our lives, ministries, triumphs and tragedies from a heavenly perspective, everything changes. Thank you Lord. Amen.
