“Putting Off” whatever hinders

22nd September 2025

Opening Prayer:
Good morning Lord. I come to you again knowing that you love me even when I don’t deserve it. I can’t earn it. And I can’t lose your love either. You love me always because of who you are. I’m yours Lord, no matter what. Speak to me this morning Holy Spirit, I pray.

Amen

Bible verse –
“So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reflection –
There’s so much here that we’re to ‘put off’ isn’t there? There’s times we have to examine our hearts and genuinely repent.

This genuine repentance brings us back to experiencing God’s love. God’s love doesn’t stop even when we’re sinning. But our experience of his love is often blocked then.

So, what’s God speaking to you about today?

Remember, conviction is sharp to the heart, condemnation is blunt like a confusing bruise. Don’t come under condemnation. But let the conviction of the Holy Spirit lead you to repentance and back to the Heavenly Father’s waiting, loving arms.

I appreciate the immediacy of these verses…it says “now is the time”. Make choices today that will change your direction and impact your life and those around you.

Reach out for love and support from trusted Christian friends or a counsellor or psychologist if you need to. Pray and allow God to speak to you. He loves you, no matter what.

Prayer –
Loving God, thank you that you are my Lord and King and my Saviour and Friend.

Help me today, right now, to set aside the things which don’t please you, laying aside any sin or weights that so easily entangle me.

Help me to repent where you convict me Holy Spirit and be free Lord of all condemnation.

Amen
