Your Will be Done
Finding God’s will for a person’s life or God’s will in decision making continues to be one of the most asked questions and needed areas of guidance for Christians and for Christian leaders.
Praying the Lord’s prayer, I find, helps to discover God’s will and purpose day to day and with the bigger picture.
Opening Prayer:
As we begin this time together, Lord, help me to hear your voice and know your will for my day, week and life today. Help me Jesus to be led by your Holy Spirit rather than my own aspirations, ambitions and desires. Instead, I say to you, Holy Spirit, Your will be done in my life and in our world around us, as it is in heaven.
Bible Verse:
“…your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven…”
Matthew 6:10
Reflection:
Bringing heaven to earth and seeing heaven on earth are common phrases and expressions used in worship songs describing the desire for us in our humanity to see the inbreaking of God’s presence, power and grace in our world.
Your will be done means it’s like Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who said: “Let it be to me according to your Word.” showing her desire to be obedient and faithful to God’s calling no matter the cost.
Along life’s journey I’ve had the privilege to come across people that are so sold out for Jesus that they lay down their lives for the Lord, literally and practically. From missionaries to Christian school teachers, mothers and business people, I’ve seen people saying: “Your will be done”, Lord in my life, family, ministry and…
What a privilege to say to the Lord; “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”! Truly we partner with God to see His work lived out on earth, as it is in heaven.
Where do you need to say: “Your will be done, Lord”?
Prayer:
You’re an amazing God, full of love and power, mighty King. Jesus, let your will be done in my life, family and ministry, as it is in heaven. Break through in that area where I need your help and guide me in that area where I need your direction, Holy Spirit. Thank you, Lord.
Amen
